Japan to Ghana: Complete Plug & Adapter Guide (2026) Adapter Needed
Planning a trip from Japan to Ghana? One of the first things to sort out before you travel is whether your electronics will work at your destination. Power outlets, plug shapes, and voltage standards vary around the world, and Ghana is no exception.
There's no plug compatibility between Japan and Ghana. Japan devices use Type A/B connectors, while Ghana sockets are Type D/G. An adapter is a must-have for this destination.
Be aware that Japan runs on 100V at 50Hz/60Hz, while Ghana uses 230V at 50Hz. This voltage difference matters for appliances like hair dryers, curling irons, and electric shavers that aren't dual-voltage. Check the label on your devices. If it says "100-240V," you're fine. Otherwise, you'll need a voltage converter.
A universal travel adapter with multiple plug configurations is a smart investment if you travel frequently. For Ghana specifically, look for one that supports Type D/G outlets. USB charging ports built into the adapter are a nice bonus.
